Golf and Other Pastimes!
Our
mild climate lends itself to many outdoor activities. We have city parks
and national parks close at hand. We have great beaches such as Pismo Beach,
Avila Beach, Refugio Beach and El Capitan all within a short drive. There are
winery trails throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Opispo Counties and
recreational lakes i.e. Cachuma Lake, Lopez Lake, Lake San Antonio and
Nacimiento Lake.
The
Santa Maria Elks host an annual Rodeo held early in June each year. Many
top "Cowboys" compete in this famous event. The whole town turns out for the
Rodeo Parade and other activities.
Most towns on the Central Coast host fairs and festivals i.e.
Olden Days in Santa Ynez and Los Alamos, Danish Days in Solvang, Strawberry
Festival and County Fair in Santa Maria, Jazz Festivals and car shows in Pismo
Beach and Strawberry Festivals in Arroyo Grande. San Luis Obispo hosts an
evening "farmers market" each Thursday with entertainment, great food and lots
of fun.
There are several 9 hole and 18 hole golf courses and a few PGA
and LPGA courses also ie, Cypress Ridge Golf Course (Nipomo/Arroyo Grande),
Blacklake Golf Resort (Nipomo), Avila Beach Resort, La Purisima Golf Course
(Buellton/Lompoc Road), Rancho Maria Golf Club (Santa Maria), River Course at
the Alisal (Solvang) and Sandpiper Golf Course (Santa Barbara/Goleta).
